About the training
Burns VR Training is a comprehensive simulation that teaches users how to act quickly and correctly in burn emergencies. The application is divided into two essential parts: Extinguishing and First Aid.
In the Extinguishing section, participants learn how to put out a person on fire using four key methods: a CO₂ extinguisher, a powder extinguisher, a wall hydrant, and a fire blanket. Each method is demonstrated in a realistic scenario, teaching correct equipment selection and usage.
The First Aid section focuses on treating severe burns. Users assess the extent of injuries and practice applying the correct medical procedures, including dressing and caring for burns in an emergency.
This immersive VR training equips participants with both practical skills and critical knowledge, ensuring they can respond to burn incidents with confidence and competence.
Training Program
Training Objective
The purpose of this training is to familiarize participants with fire extinguishing procedures for a person on fire and first aid for severe burns, following the ERC 2021 guidelines and the Polish Qualified First Aid (KPP) standards. Participants will gain hands-on experience in using different extinguishing methods, assessing burn severity, and providing appropriate care for burn victims. The training is conducted in virtual reality (VR), allowing participants to practice emergency procedures in simulated fire and rescue scenarios.
Who Should Attend?
This training is designed for:
- Industrial and office workers
- Workplace safety and fire protection personnel
- Paramedics and firefighters
- First aid and advanced first aid trainees
- Students and trainees in emergency response and medical fields
Training Outline
Part I: Introduction to VR (8 minutes)
- Learning how to use the VR training application, including navigation and interaction in a virtual environment
- Familiarization with hand tracking for natural, controller-free interaction
Part II: Extinguishing a Person on Fire (25 minutes)
Fire Basics:
- Classification of fire types
- Use of the emergency power switch
Fire Extinguishing Methods for a Person on Fire:
- Using a CO₂ extinguisher: application and effectiveness
- Using a powder extinguisher: efficiency and potential risks
- Using a wall hydrant: correct technique
- Using a fire blanket: method and limitations
Practical Fire Extinguishing Simulation:
- Choosing the appropriate extinguishing method
- Applying the selected extinguishing technique
- Evaluating the effectiveness of the intervention
Part III: First Aid for Burns (15 minutes)
Assessing the Victim’s Condition:
- Ensuring safety for both the rescuer and the victim
- Evaluating burn severity using the Rule of Nines based on the ERC 2021 guidelines
- Identifying signs of hypovolemic shock
First Aid Procedures (KPP guidelines):
- Removing clothing and jewelry from the burned area
- Cooling the burn (time and methods based on burn size)
- Applying hydrogel dressings, or sterile dry dressings when hydrogels are unavailable
- Avoiding oils, fats or home remedies on burns
VR Simulation: First Aid for Severe Burns
- Assessing the victim’s condition
- Applying the appropriate dressing
- Responding to signs of shock
This training combines realistic fire hazard simulations with first aid for severe burns, following the ERC 2021 guidelines and KPP 2021 standards.
